Adam Freeland

When Adam Freeland released his ground-breaking �Coastal Breaks� mix album in 1996, it signalled a new era in dance music, putting the breakbeat sound centre stage. What had been a relatively small scene suddenly found itself at the heart of the media spotlight, hailed as the future of dance music with club nights such as Friction and Air leading the way.

He rapidly earned a reputation for being an innovative and pioneering force in dance music, stamping his mark on the club scene through his seamless blending of hip hop and electro into his deep house sets. By 1997 he stood as a considerable force on the global DJ circuit, claiming such admirers as Carl Cox, the Chemical Brothers and Sasha and went on to break new ground with his Friday night Kiss 100 radio show.

Since his first release, breakbeat has infiltrated dance music in all areas, through landmark recordings like Tsunami One's "Hip Hop Phenomenon", featured on Adam's follow-up to the now legendary "Coastal Breaks", "Tectonics" (1999).

He currently holds a residency at arguably the world's most prestigious club - Fabric in London - where his genre-trashing dynamic sound has led him to be the only DJ to alternate between Friday's breaks night and Saturday's house night.

He also owns cutting-edge dance label Marine Parade, home to a diverse range of artists. He recently released his own debut album (as an artist) under the new guise Free*land, with the lead single 'We Want Your Soul' getting massive plays in the clubs.

Adam continues to spend much of his time touring the world, pushing musical boundaries as an ambassador of the breakbeat scene.

PFN - The Flow
PFN (Proper Filthy Naughty) has been a prolific force on the progressive house/breakbeat scene over the last few years. This track is a tasty wedge of breakbeat from PFN's solo debut album "Fascination" and has been described as 'a blueprint for the future sound of rap'. A cut up guitar sample from The Rolling Stone's classic 'Paint It Black' leads into a mean and moody bassline and quickly spoken rap from MC Scandalous.

Zootwoman - Grey Day
Former member of inspired electronic dance-pop Les Rhythmes Digitales Stuart Price (a.k.a. Jacques Lu Cont) formed Zoot Woman with brothers Johnny and Adam Blake. 'Grey Day', the first single from Zoot Woman's eponymous second album, was undoubtedly one of the club tunes of last year.
